Winnipeg Transit expanded into East St. Paul? Liberal MP developing plan

MP Maryanne Mihychuk is looking at extending Winnipeg Transit service into the RM of East St. Paul.

Between 1961 and 1963 East St. Paul had been a part of Metro government, but I guess they perceived they weren't receiving much benefit, so they had a vote an suceeded.

Right now, Beaver Bus Lines provides "regional", if you can call it that, transit service between Winnipeg and Selkirk, Manitoba, a 50 min. ride. They have recently withdrawn Saturday service, claiming "lack of demand" ... I guess everyone prefers to drive...

If the Metro Winnipeg area, and that includes areas beyond the Perimeter Hwy. were serviced with public transit in some form, this could help stem the use of private cars/SUVs etc.. on our major thoroughfares.
